Why are the apps sorted the way they are?

Podlink supports two ways of sorting podcast app links:

  1. Alphabetical – A simple A-to-Z list of supported apps.
  2. By Popularity – A dynamic order based on relevance and usage patterns.

When set to “Popularity,” the sort order is influenced by:

  • Global market share of each app
  • The visitor’s device or platform (e.g. iOS, Android, desktop)
  • Your podcast’s public analytics from OP3 (if enabled)

This approach helps surface the most likely apps a listener will use, improving the experience and increasing the chance of a successful subscription or listen.

Currently, the only way to influence the popularity-based sort order is by adding OP3 to your podcast’s RSS feed. OP3 provides open analytics that Podlink can use to prioritize apps based on where your actual listeners are tuning in.
